Even in high-automation environments, it’s important to anchor decision rights in clearly defined human roles. The moment responsibility is blurred—“the system told us to,” “the model said no”—we lose the core of strategic leadership.
Embedding AI in decision-making requires not just technical understanding but ethical clarity. Who is accountable for the outcomes? Who has the right to challenge the recommendation? And who ensures the data story reflects the lived one?
Your AI system doesn’t need a conscience. But your leadership does.
Do: Design with Dual Intelligence in Mind
Ultimately, the goal isn’t to have AI make better decisions for us. It’s to help humans make better decisions with it.
This means investing in skills that are often overlooked:
The ability to ask better questions of data.
The discipline to know when to slow a fast decision.
The literacy to understand where models draw their logic from—and what they leave out.
It also means creating workflows where AI insights are embedded at the right points—not dumped in dashboards, but woven into the rituals and rhythms of decision-making.
Dual intelligence isn’t about efficiency alone. It’s about elevating the quality of how we choose, together.
